5 Easy Steps to Look After Your Feet at Home

I know I have recently blogged about the benefits of pedicures but what can I say.... I LOVE PEDICURES! I love giving pedicures; the satisfaction of seeing transformations, the health benefits they provide and providing what is possibly the ultimate in relaxation and pampering! Obviously, I also love having pedicures.... come on who doesn't!

I always recommend that people maintain a monthly pedicure routine, especially during the Summer months. Walking around in flip flops and sandals all day is one of the best things about Summer but also is very hard going on your feet. Even with monthly pedicures you also need to look after your feet between appointments. So here are my top 5 tips to beautiful feet all Summer long!

1 - USE A GENTLE EXFOLIATOR IN THE BATH OR SHOWER

Sounds simple enough right? The key word here is gentle, there is no need to go in hard with a rough pumice stone / grater / sand paper, in fact this can actually do more harm than good and lead to more hard skin build up as the skin fights to rebuild itself.

Instead use a natural buffer that will moisturise whilst whisking away dry skin and calluses. I love the Spongelle Pedi Buffer for this, easy to use, fantastic results and smells DIVINE!

2 - DRY YOUR FEET WELL

Make sure you dry your feet off properly, including in between your toes. Toenail fungus and athletes foot thrive in damp, warm conditions so make sure you are not welcoming it in and keep your feet nice and dry. Footlogix Tincture is a miracle worker that removes even the most stubborn fungus within weeks. I won't post graphic photos to shock you here but ask at your next appointment and I will show you some unbelievable results!

3 - MASSAGE IN AN INTENSIVE MOISTURISER

Now I don't mean just any old moisturiser here, the skin on your feet is thicker and contains a higher proportion of keratin so using a good quality foot cream is essential. Foot creams are thicker and more intense than body lotion so they penetrate deeper into thicker layers. I am in love with the ZenSpa Hydrating Heel Repair Crème...… just look at these results in just one use!

4 - TOP UP YOUR TOP COAT!

Keep your pedicure looking fresh by applying a layer of top coat once a week. Polish will last a lot longer on your toe nails compared to your fingers but they will still take a fair bit of punishment, reapplying top coat will prevent colour fading, chipping and will maintain the shine. Try BRILLIANCE by Jessica which provides a high gloss shine and UV protection, or THICK by Jessica for that plump gel like finish.

5- CUTICLE OIL

If you have ever visited Bricket Nails before or read any of my other blogs you will know how much I stress (bang on!) about the importance of using cuticle oil at least once a day after your manicure. The same goes for your toes; cuticle oil will keep them healthy and prevent them drying out. This is especially important if you have a gel finish. You can read all about my obsession with Dadi' Oil in my previous blog!

If you follow these 5 easy steps you will be well on you way to beautiful feet to be proud of all summer long! Caring for your feet at home couldn't be easier!
